OnePlus 6: features, expected price and launch date confirmed.

OnePlus smartphone is probably few months away from being launched. The handset maker has already confirmed a few features while many more are rumoured or have been leaked. The device, expected to be called as OnePlus 6 based on the naming scheme in the series, is likely to give other flagships a run for their money, like it has been doing for the few years now. We have compiled all what is confirmed and expected from the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus recently released the first official image of the upcoming OnePlus 6 smartphone. The image, shared by The Verge clearly showed the iPhone X-like ‘Notch’. The company CEO later in a blog post also detailed why the team went ahead with the notch design. In addition to this, this particular design was expected as Google also confirmed the support for the 'display cut out' in Android P Developer Beta 1. OnePlus has already confirmed the arrival of the ‘notch’. This means you will see slightly more larger screen on the top right corners but the resolution might be the same as OnePlus 5T – FullHD+. OnePlus is also likely to use an AMOLED screen.

Recently a smartphone tipster @evleaks posted an image showing the new back panel design of OnePlus 6. The handset is supposed to feature a squarish fingerprint sensor, wooden furnished design and dual rear cameras placed vertically at the centre.

It has been also rumoured that OnePlus may launch its OnePlus 6 smartphone before its usual June time frame. There is no confirmation though. Based on the launch history, the handset maker usually launches the flagship smartphone in June followed up an upgraded device in November-December.

Besides confirming the ‘notch’ OnePlus also confirmed to The Verge that it will be retaining the 3.5mm headphone jack. This comes at a time when majority of the flagship smartphones have ditched the tech in order to become thinner and push users more towards USB Type-C or wireless platforms.

With upgraded specs the price of the device may also soar. Since the highest variant of OnePlus 5T touches the Rs 38,000 mark, the highest variant of OnePlus 6 could reach the Rs 40,000 segment making it as one of the costliest OnePlus handsets in the market.

This is probably the first piece of information that the OnePlus team confirmed for the upcoming smartphone. The firm in the past has repeatedly said in several interviews that it delivers what its fans want and understandably the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 could just be one of the demands.

There may not be any difference in the RAM capacities this time. The OnePlus 6 may come in two variants – 6GB RAM and 8GB RAM, like the OnePlus 5T. Frankly, we don’t really need more RAM for now. Even 8GB seems like overkill.

OnePlus 5T came with 64GB and 128GB storage options but with OnePlus 6, 256GB could become one of the variants. After all, the latest iPhones also come with the same storage option. Base storage capacity could be raised to 128GB.

We assume OnePlus won’t be raising the pixel count in the OnePlus 6’s front camera. 16MP seems enough to click a clear image for now. However, what could change is the aperture. OnePlus 5T’s front 16MP camera has f/2.0 aperture, this may go lower. How low? May be f/1.8, who knows.

Rear cameras may have the same pixel count as the OnePlus 5T – 16MP+20MP. Here we can see a bump in the Sony image sensor the handset uses. This may result in better image quality and maybe 960fps slow mo video in HD resolution recording ability.

Unlike the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T, the OnePlus 6 could have more than 3300mAh battery. Although most of the flagships have 3300mAh battery, this one may have around 3500mAh. Of course you can expect Dash Charging tech along with it.
